18. The Black Belt Oath (Part 1 of 3)

After completing and passing your black belt grading you will be awarded your black belt.

Part of the black belt ceremony, before you receive your black belt and black belt certificate is reciting (saying) the Black Belt Oath. This is where we 'swear in' a new black belt.

There are three paragraphs.

This week we will discuss paragraph number one.

Black Belt Oath (Paragraph 1 of 3)

I, your name, accept with honor and privilege,

the First Degree Black Belt in Cobra Martial Arts,

and do hereby swear to maintain a high moral code,

by upholding the tenets, of courtesy, integrity, perseverance,

self-control and indomitable spirit.

Class discussion ideas:

You will feel honored, happy and proud of your accomplishments and feel very special to accept the black belt.

You agree to always display the values, respect and the life teachings that you have learned at Cobra Martial Arts, even outside of the dojo, such as at home and at school.

You agree to follow the Tenets in all areas of your life.
